John B. Gabriel, specializes in site selection and development for Diversified’s cadre of retail tenant clients.  Prior to joining Diversified, Mr. Gabriel was for 15 years a Senior Vice President of Real Estate, FITNESS INTERNATIONAL, LLC (LA FITNESS) where he participated in growing the company from about 100 locations to over 700.  With over 40 years in commercial real estate and the shopping center industry, Mr. Gabriel, was in the first group of candidates awarded the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) distinction as a Certified Retail Property Executive (CRX) and Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS).  Mr. Gabriel has held Senior Vice President positions with major nationwide commercial real estate developers, owners, brokers and managers (or their predecessors – Madison Marquette, Center Trust REIT, Urban Retail / JMB Properties, and CB Richard Ellis).

Mr. Gabriel has a M.A. degree from Pepperdine University and 2 B.S. degrees from California State Polytechnic University.  

He also completed the coursework for an MBA, but did not present a thesis. A former California licensed Real Estate Broker, he is an active member and officer of the ICSC, where he serves as Ambassador, was a past Western Division Retail Chair, previously a State Government Relations Chair, CLS Governing Board and a program committee member. Mr. Gabriel is also a current Board member and past Chairman of the Board for California Business Properties Association, “the voice for the Commercial, Retail, and Industrial Real Estate Industry in California”.  John is a veteran as well, having served as a fighter pilot in the Marine Corps both on active duty and in the reserves, attaining the rank of Major.

Mr. Gabriel resides in Coeur d ‘Alene, Idaho with his wife of 50 years.  He and his wife are members of the Peninsula Committee for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Real Life Ministries, Post Falls, Idaho.  They have 2 married children and 6 grandchildren.
